Cathay Pacific has been one of the closest business partners of POTO Travel & Tours. For the past few years, POTO Travel & Tours has been collaborating with Cathay Pacific to organize large group tours to several destinations like Beijing, Shanghai and most recently Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Recently, POTO Travel & Tours managed to conduct an exclusive interview with Mr. Yeoh Boo Leong, Sales & Marketing Manager, Malaysia & Brunei, Cathay Pacific Airways. He shared with us special insights about Cathay Pacific and what they have in store for their customers in 2014.
1) Why do you think people should fly with Cathay instead of other airlines?
Our people and service, combined with our strong international network and frequent flight connections into Asia, China, US, and Europe, are some of the key factors our customers choose to fly with us.
2) What are the things that differentiate Cathay with other airlines?
Cathay Pacific is a full-service airline, and will continue to focus on providing products and services that our customers value. Our people and service, combined with our international network and smooth connectivity to over 170 destinations are some of the key factors our customers choose to fly with us.
3) What should customers look out for from Cathay in 2014?
We continue to remain committed to invest and grow together with the Malaysian travel market in 2014, and will definitely keep our customers updated with the latest news when it becomes available.
We are excited that the recently introduced new Premium Economy Class for travel from Malaysia to selected Asian destinations is growing in popularity, and installation of our new Regional Business and Economy Class seats in the regional fleet is expected to be completed by December 2014.
4) Is Cathay planning to add numbers of flights to certain destinations soon? What are those destinations?
We are committed to developing flights around the world, and if there is sufficient demand to operate these flights profitably, we will look into adding more frequencies and new destinations. Currently we serve over 170 destinations in 41 countries and territories, including 45 weekly direct flights between Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu) and Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific has announced recently that we will start to operate a 5th daily service from Hong Kong to Newark (New York) effective from 1st March 2014. Currently we operate 4x daily flights from Hong Kong to New York (JFK)
5) Is there any upgrades in services for customers soon? If yes, what are those upgrade?
We consistently strive to improve our products and services, and our customers can expect this to continue into 2014.

At the same time, our sister airline - Dragonair has also begun upgrading its cabins with new Business and Economy Class seats and a new inflight entertainment system. At Hong Kong International Airport, our fifth departure lounge - The Bridge, just recently opened in November 2013, offers our First and Business Class passengers an inviting environment of understated luxury.
